Vlachos Vasileios

Vasileios Vlachos is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economic Sciences at the International Hellenic University. He holds degrees in economics, business administration, and finance (BSc, MA, MSc) from the UK, and a Ph.D. from the Department of International and European Studies at the University of Macedonia. His dissertation focused on the “Determinants of Private Investment in the Greek Economy in the Euro Era.”

Dr. Vlachos’s research interests encompass economic development, the informal economy, direct investment, and the macroeconomic environment of firms. He has collaborated with Columbia University’s Center on Sustainable Investment and participated in various research projects centered on economic development, investment attraction, and tax compliance. Furthermore, he has supervised a research project investigating tax avoidance, and his research contributed to the first assessments of tax morale in Greece.

His scholarly contributions include publications in international peer-reviewed scientific journals, chapters in collective volumes, and editorial roles in international scientific journals. He has also edited and authored books addressing macroeconomics, direct investment, and the impact of the economic crisis in Greece and Europe.
